Photos from Sweetlife 2016

For the second year in a row, IGDC was happy to be invited back to the area’s biggest music event, Sweetlife Festival. Settled amongst the lush Merriweather Post Pavilion woodlands, the venue is the perfect setting for Sweetgreen to merge their two passions: good food and good music. Billed as an event that “brings together outstanding musical acts and curates the best in food and community” the festival includes chef collaborations, art installations, play areas and more.

I gotta thank @cameronwtsmith for this portrait of Shamir. I met him while in the photo pit for Mac DeMarco and later found him while grabbing crowd shots during Grimes. Then I realized he was asking to grab portraits of Shamir, so I MAY have tagged along and rode on his coattails. I am very particular about who I work with when it comes to photographing things like families and events. As a photographer, you tend to feed off of the energy of the people, and that energy will guide the entire shoot. Let me just say, the energy from the people at this years #SweetLifeFestival was right on point. Thank you so much @sweetgreen for providing an opportunity to meet and photograph some pretty amazing people.

On the roster this year was the expected mix of genres and talent. Veteran acts such as Blondie and Eagles of Death Metal rocked alongside up-and-coming acts like Vince Staples and Shamir and solid performances from The 1975, Halsey and Grimes. Despite the mid-day thunderstorm, ponchos came out and people continued to groove and enjoy their favorite performances.
