In celebration of Earth Day and Instagram’s Worldwide InstaMeet 13, IGDC took to our own backyard and hiked the Soapstone Valley Trail. Soapstone has been voted “Best Place in Rock Creek Park You’ve Never Been To” by Washington City Paper and it is a beautifully serene and isolated spot in the middle of the bustling city.
We had plenty of rain in the morning but luckily it cleared and gave us the perfect day minutes before the walk started. We threaded water, stone-hopped over the creek, posed with nature and took every opportunity to stop and marvel at such a beautiful landscape. At the half-way mark we collected trash to help keep the park and our city clean.
The best part of every meet is seeing new faces and being with old friends. It’s always so much fun exploring Washington DC together and we love that this photo group has become family. For us, it has always been community first and we invite you to join us at our next Instameet soon.
